Dhurandhar 2 Box Office: Can Ranveer Singh’s Sequel Become Bollywood’s First Clean Hit of 2026?
With nearly two months of 2026 behind us, the Hindi film industry is still waiting for its first outright blockbuster success of the year. While Border 2 emerged as a strong performer in theatres, its high production cost prevented it from achieving a clear “hit” status despite earning solid numbers. Other releases like Mardaani 3 and Ikkis also failed to live up to expectations, leaving Bollywood without a definitive winner so far.
Now, industry attention has shifted to Dhurandhar 2, the much-anticipated sequel headlined by Ranveer Singh. Slated for release on March 19, the film is being positioned as the next major event release of the year. The original Dhurandhar was both a critical and commercial triumph, which has significantly boosted anticipation for the second installment.
Massive Budget, Massive Expectations
Dhurandhar 2 is mounted on a grand scale, reportedly carrying a production budget in the range of ₹200–225 crore. Given this investment, the film would need to collect approximately ₹400–450 crore net at the Indian box office to secure a 100 percent return on investment and qualify as a clean hit.
Trade analysts believe the film has the potential to generate strong opening numbers, particularly in its first 10 days, provided audience feedback remains positive. The on-ground buzz and advance interest suggest a powerful start, but sustained performance will ultimately determine its verdict.
A Look Back at the First Film’s Success
The original Dhurandhar was produced on an estimated budget of ₹225 crore and went on to collect an impressive ₹894.49 crore net in India during its lifetime run. This translated into a remarkable return on investment of nearly 297.55 percent, making it one of the most profitable ventures in recent years.
The sequel will aim to replicate that success, though expectations are naturally higher this time around. Matching or exceeding the first film’s performance would firmly establish Dhurandhar 2 as one of the biggest successes of 2026.
Can It Break the Dry Spell?
With Bollywood yet to register a clean hit this year, Dhurandhar 2 carries significant industry hopes. If the film lives up to its hype and maintains strong word of mouth, it could finally end the dry spell and deliver the first clear box office victory of 2026.
All eyes are now on March 19, as Ranveer Singh’s big-ticket sequel prepares to test its strength at the ticket windows.
