Dhurandhar: The Revenge – Who Returns, Who Joins and What to Expect from the Ranveer Singh Spy Saga

After rewriting box office records in 2025, Dhurandhar is set to expand its universe with the much-anticipated sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the sequel arrives in cinemas on March 19, 2026, coinciding with festive celebrations such as Gudi Padwa, Ugadi and Eid-al-Fitr.

With expectations sky-high, the film promises a darker narrative, more complex character arcs and action sequences mounted on a far grander scale.

Ranveer Singh Returns as Hamza

At the heart of the story is Ranveer Singh reprising his role as undercover operative Hamza Ali Mazari, who previously operated under a fabricated identity while infiltrating Karachi’s criminal underworld. The sequel intensifies his mission, placing him in situations where loyalty, survival and morality collide.

The first instalment reportedly crossed ₹1,300 crore worldwide, making it one of the biggest Indian hits of 2025. Much of that success was credited to Singh’s intense portrayal of a spy torn between duty and personal cost.

The Story Moves Back to Lyari

The sequel revisits the volatile streets of Lyari, where unfinished rivalries and political undercurrents continue to shape the narrative.

Arjun Rampal returns as Major Iqbal, the calculating ISI officer determined to eliminate Hamza at any cost. Their confrontations are expected to drive the central conflict.

The emotional dimension of Hamza’s life also takes centre stage. Sara Arjun plays his wife, Yalina Jamali, whose personal struggles intertwine with the larger geopolitical drama. Her father, portrayed by Rakesh Bedi, adds a political angle that deepens the stakes.

Familiar Faces and Lingering Shadows

Though his character met a dramatic end in the first film, Akshaye Khanna is set to appear in flashback sequences as Rehman Dakait. His understated yet chilling performance previously became one of the film’s most talked-about highlights, and his legacy continues to influence the sequel’s events.

Saumya Tandon reprises her role as Ulfat, bringing emotional depth to a world defined by violence.

Meanwhile, Sanjay Dutt returns as SP Chaudhary Aslam, attempting to maintain order within a collapsing system. R. Madhavan is back as intelligence strategist Ajay Sanyal, guiding operations from behind the scenes.

Other returning actors include Gaurav Gera as Hamza’s discreet handler and Danish Pandor as gang leader Uzair Baloch, whose rivalry adds raw intensity to the narrative.

New Additions Raise the Stakes

The sequel introduces high-profile additions to its cast. Emraan Hashmi joins in a pivotal role, reportedly bringing a new layer of unpredictability to the spy network.

Vicky Kaushal is another major entrant, though details about his character remain tightly guarded. Industry observers expect his role to significantly influence the intelligence or military arc of the story.

Additionally, Yami Gautam is believed to appear in a special cameo.

Scale, Runtime and Wider Release

The sequel is reported to have a runtime of approximately 245 minutes, making it an expansive cinematic experience. It was filmed across multiple Indian states including Punjab, Ladakh, Maharashtra, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh, along with international schedules in Thailand.

Unlike its predecessor, Dhurandhar: The Revenge will also release in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada, broadening its reach beyond the Hindi-speaking market.

What to Expect

Bigger action sequences, heightened emotional conflicts and a deeper exploration of espionage politics define the sequel’s promise. With returning adversaries, new alliances and unresolved tensions, the film aims to expand its universe while delivering a more intense and layered thriller experience.

As the release date approaches, anticipation continues to build around whether the sequel can surpass the legacy of its record-breaking predecessor.
