A new box office battle is shaping up as Ustaad Bhagat Singh is now expected to release on the same day as Dhurandhar: The Revenge (Part 2). The makers of the Pawan Kalyan starrer have reportedly decided to move the release date forward, setting up a direct clash with Ranveer Singh’s upcoming action thriller.
Originally scheduled to hit theatres on March 26, the Telugu film is now likely to arrive a week earlier. The change in plans came shortly after Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups, starring Yash, was postponed to June, opening up a prime release window.
Why the Makers Advanced the Release Date
The decision to bring Ustaad Bhagat Singh forward is largely driven by the attractive holiday period around March 19. Festivals like Ugadi and Ramzan fall during that week, creating a long weekend that is expected to boost theatre footfall.
Producers believe the festive period could significantly increase the film’s opening collections, even though it will have to compete with Dhurandhar: The Revenge at the box office.
Expected Impact of the Clash at the Box Office
Trade analysts suggest that the clash will affect the performance of both films in certain markets. In the Telugu states, however, Pawan Kalyan’s strong fan base is expected to give Ustaad Bhagat Singh a major advantage.
The film is likely to dominate ticket sales across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, while Dhurandhar: The Revenge may perform better in other regions, particularly North India and overseas markets where Ranveer Singh has a strong audience base.
Screen Sharing in Hyderabad and Overseas Markets
Because of the simultaneous release, multiplexes—especially in Hyderabad—will have to divide screens between the two films. This means Ustaad Bhagat Singh may receive fewer screens compared to what it would have had during a solo release.
At the same time, Dhurandhar: The Revenge could benefit from the popularity of its previous installment, helping it secure a reasonable number of shows in key markets such as Nizam and international territories.
Regional Performance Expectations
While competition may affect numbers in regions like Nizam and overseas, industry insiders believe Ustaad Bhagat Singh will remain the dominant choice across the Andhra region due to Pawan Kalyan’s massive following.
Meanwhile, Dhurandhar: The Revenge is expected to attract audiences in multiplex chains and non-Telugu markets, ensuring that both films have their own strong territories despite the clash.
